The Montevallo Arts Council hosted the printmaking work of Debra Riffe for the month of March 2012 at the Parnell Memorial Library Gallery in Montevallo. Ms. Riffe is a native of Tupelo, Mississippi and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Howard University, College of Fine Arts, in Washington, D.C. Passionate about needlepoint and block printing, her compositions focus exclusively on rural southern African Americans. She has been featured in Southern Living Magazine, interviewed on NPR, and is the recipient of numerous awards. The Council hosted a gallery talk by the artist and reception with the artist on Sunday, March 11.

Frank Gallery Show at Parnell Memorial Library

Alabaster artist Christoffer Frank's work was on display in Parnell Library Gallery in January and February 2012. Mr. Frank started out as an artist from a very young age, then elected to pursue the ministry and then returned ten years later to once again follow his artistic roots. His medium of choice is watercolor. However, he excels in charcoal, graphite, pen and ink and oil pastels. His work is progressive because he paints in series; being inspired by the twists and turns his life takes. The Council hosted a talk and reception with the artist on Sunday, January 15.

You can find exhibits of fine art throughout the year at the Parnell Memorial Library Arts Gallery. The Library Gallery is free and open to the public during regular library hours: MWF: 10:00 a. m.-5:00 p.m., TTH: 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p. m., and Sat.: 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. See the schedule of exhibits for a complete overview.
