Community Arts Organizations
Montevallo is proud to have three community-based arts groups--the Montevallo Main Street Players, the Montevallo Chorale, and the Montevallo Community Band.
During the holiday season, these three groups join with the Montevallo High School drama group to produce a program of holiday music and dramatic readings called "Sounds of the Season." See highlights of this performance and others by Montevallo Main Street Players at www.visitwestalabama.com/mediaportal/mmsp.
Montevallo Main Street Players is a very active community theater group. It was formed in 1972, and presented its first production--Life With Father--that same year in Palmer Auditorium on the University of Montevallo campus.
In 2007, MMSP moved into its permanent home, the Parnell Memorial Library Theater. For its opening, MMSP reprised the first play produced by the community theatre, Life with Father, followed by Ashes of Roses and A Coupla White Chicks Sitting Around Talking.
